Biggest Loser
Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, with 5 nominations, is the lowest nominated film of the 12 Best Picture nominees. Meanwhile, The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, & Her Lover, with 10 nominations, is the only BP nominee to go home empty handed.

Fun Stuff
With it's 35 nominations & 18 awards, Goodfellas sets a new record in both categories.

For the first time, four films garnered 20 or more nominations.

Wild at Heart becomes just the second film to have nominated actors in all four acting categories. The other film was Blue Velvet. Oddly, both are directed by David Lynch.

Dick Tracy is the first film to be nominated for both Original Score (Danny Elfman's instrumental score) and Adapted Score (the song filled soundtrack).

The Coen Brothers receive two more nominations this year, raising their lifetime totals to 8 nominations. Martin Scorsese & The Coen Brothers each garner their record tying third Best Director nomination this year, matching Woody Allen's 3 Director nods.

Pedro Almadovar receives three more nomination this year, giving the auteur a lifetime total of 7 nominations, The Spanish director has also won his third Kevy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Anjelica Huston, Robert De Niro, & Willem Dafoe each receive their 3rd acting nomination this year. They join Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, & Dianne Wiest as the actors with the most acting nominations. Actors with two acting nominations a piece include Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Winona Ryder, Laura Dern, Jeremy Irons, William Hurt, Nicolas Cage, Michelle Pfieffer, Ray Liotta, & Carmen Maura.

Woody Allen & Steve Martin each added another nomination to their lifetime totals, bringing both up to 12 lifetime nods. Winona Ryder adds four more nominations, bringing her lifetime total up to 11 nominations.

Johnny Depp ties the single year nomination record with 5 nods.

This is the first year that the Lifetime Achievement Award is given out!

Biggest Loser
The Fisher King received just 4 nominations this year, the lowest amount of any of the twelve Best Motion Picture nominees. It is also the only one of those twelve to go home empty handed.

Fun Stuff
For the 4th time (1986, 1987 & 1989 before) the film with the most nominations does not win Best Motion Picture. For the 2nd time (1987 being the other) the film with the most Kevy Awards does not win Best Motion Picture.

For the first time since the inaugural year of 1984, no film garnered 20 nominations.

The Addams Family's 16 nominations is the second highest by a non Best Motion Picture nominee. The Lost Boys (1987) still holds the record, with 19. Also, it, along with JFK, was the most nominated film of the year - something a non BP nominee has ever done.

Agnieszka Holland's nomination for Best Director for Europa Europa is the first by a female director.

Both Martin Scorsese and The Coen Brothers receive their 4th Best Director nominations this year. The Coen Brothers win for the first time.

Woody Allen receives his 7th Best Screenplay nomination, and his 13th & 14th lifetime nominations (he was also nominated for Male Comedic Performance). He has won four times.

Steve Martin more than keeps up with Woody Allen, by garnering his 13th, 14th AND 15th lifetime nominations this year, making him the most nominated individual in Kevy Awards history!!

Winona Ryder garnered two nominations this year (her 3rd for Acting and her 3rd for Sexiest Female Performance) giving her a lifetime total of 13 nominations.

Next in line for most nominations are The Coen Brothers (10), Jack Nicholson, Laura Dern, & Willem Dafoe (8 each), and Pedro Almadovar, Robert De Niro, Julia Roberts, Bill Murray, & Anjelica Huston (7 each).

Most Kevy Award wins record goes to Willem Dafoe, with 5 wins. He is followed by Woody Allen, The Coen Brothers, Winona Ryder, Laura Dern, Dennis Hopper, & Prince, each with 4 awards.

Robert De Niro becomes the first person to receive 4 acting nominations.

Laura Dern & Winona Ryder join Dianne Wiest, Glenn Close, & Jack Nicholson, all with 3 Acting Nominations.

By winning Best Supporting Actress, Judy Davis joins Genvieve Bujold as the only two actors to win two acting Kevys.

Biggest Loser
With it's 4 nominations, A Few Good Men is the least nominated of the Best Motion Picture nominations, and the only one to go home empty handed.

Fun Stuff
Bram Stoker's Dracula won 17 Kevy Awards, just one shy of the record set by Goodfellas in 1990.

Best Actor, Best Actress, & Sexiest Female Performance all have seven nominees this year instead of the usual six.

Gary Oldman sets two new single year records by receiving 7 nominations and winning 5 of them. Michelle Pfeiffer & Winona Ryder each received 5 nominations this year.

Gary Oldman also set a new record by winning a lifetime total 7 Kevy Awards. He also now has 13 overall nominations, placing him in 4th place amongst most nominated individuals.

Winona Ryder received 5 nominations this year, giving her a record setting lifetime total of 18 nominations. Her 6 Kevy Award wins is second only to Oldman.

Woody Allen is nominated for Best Director for the 4th time (tying the record already set by Martin Scorsese and The Coen Brothers) and for Best Original Screenplay for the 8th time (a record all his own). His win for Best Screenplay this year gives him 5 lifetime Kevy Awards (all for Original Screenplay) and 16 lifetime nominations - both of which are the second highest lifetime totals.

Steve Martin received his 16th lifetime nomination, tying him with Woody Allen for second place among nominated individuals.

Michelle Pfeiffer & Anthony Hopkins become the first individuals to be nominated for both Lead and Supporting Actor Kevy's in the same year.

With their two acting nominations each, Pfeiffer now has 4 lifetime acting nods & Hopkins now has 3 acting nominations. Winona Ryder & Jack Nicholson both garner their 4th acting nominations, the former getting hers four years in a row. Robert De Niro is the only other actor to garner 4 acting nominations.

Harvey Keitel, Gary Oldman, & Judy Davis also received their 3rd acting nominations. Davis went one step further by becoming the first person to win 3 acting Kevy Awards.

In 2019, for reasons that should be rather obvious, the Best Cameo nomination for Donald Trump was rescinded from the official record.

Biggest Loser
For the first nine years of The Kevy Awards, each year has had just a single Best Picture nominee that went home empty handed. Now in year ten, we have three with Remains of the Day, The Age of the Innocence, & Short Cuts, the latter of which had the least amount of nominations among BP nominees, with just 6 total.

With 14, The Age of Innocence sets a record for the film with the most nominations without winning a single award.

Fun Stuff
Dazed & Confused sets a new record by garnering 44 nominations, shattering Goodfellas old record of 34, set in 1990. It's 14 Kevy Awards wins comes in 2nd to Goodfellas' 18 wins tho.

The Nightmare Before Christmas becomes the first animated film to be nominated for Best Motion Picture. It's 18 nominations are the most by any animated film, and it's 4 Kevy Awards tie it with both The Little Mermaid and Aladdin for the most by an animated film. Of course, these records are for fully animated films and not the partially animated Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.

Garnering their 5th acting nominations each, Michelle Pfeiffer & Winona Ryder, join Robert De Niro for the most lifetime acting nominations. Ryder did them one better by getting all five of hers in a row.

Anthony Hopkins & Laura Dern each received their 4th acting nominations this year.

Emma Thompson is nominated in Lead and Supporting this year (the third person to do this after Michelle Pfeiffer & Anthony Hopkins both did it last year) receiving her 2nd and 3rd acting nominations overall.

Tom Hanks & Holly Hunter each grab their 2nd acting nominations. Daniel Day-Lewis also grabs his 2nd, and wins for the 2nd time too.

Winona Ryder's 2 nominations this year, gives her a record lifetime total of 20 nominations, breaking her own record. Ryder also holds the record for most consecutive years nominated, garnering nods every year since 1988.

Woody Allen receives his 9th Original Screenplay nomination, adding to his own record. This nomination, along with his Best Male Comedic Performance this year, gives him a lifetime total of 18 nominations.

This is a rare year without a single nomination for Steve Martin (he holds the record for 7 nominations in Best Male Comedic Performance) but he still holds his 3rd place position for most lifetime nominations with 16 total.

Michelle Pfeiffer garnered 3 nominations this year, putting in 4th place lifetime with 14 nominations.

Best Actor has seven nominees instead of the usual six this year.

Biggest Loser
The Hudsucker Proxy, with 5 nominations, is the least nominated of the Best Picture nominees. Also, The Hudsucker Proxy, Shawshank Redemption, & Three Colours Trilogy are the BP nominees with no wins.

Forrest Gump, the big Oscar winner, garnered just one nomination at The Kevy Awards - a nod for Best Adapted Score.

Fun Stuff
Pulp Fiction becomes the winningest film in Kevy Award history. It's 19 Kevy Awards breaks Goodfellas record of 18. Meanwhile Pulp Fiction's 41 nomination is the 2nd most of all-time, three shy of  the record set last year by Dazed & Confused.

Three Colours Trilogy is actually three films (Blue, White, & Red) but since they were all released in the US in 1994, they are collected into one entity for these nominations.

Chungking Express's 15 nominations is the most by a Foreign Language Film, breaking the record of 13 set in 1985 by Kurosawa's Ran.

The Lion King's 16 nominations is the 2nd most by an animated film (The Nightmare Before Christmas holds the record with 18 nods). Also, The Lion King's 16 nominations, along with the 16 for Reality Bites are tied (along with 1991's The Addams Family) for the 2nd most by a film not nominated for Best Motion Picture. The Lost Boys' 19 nominations in 1987 still holds the record.

An embarrassment of riches! There are seven (instead of the normal six) nominees for Best Female Breakthrough Performance, due to there being so many amazing film debuts by women this year. All four main acting categories also has seven nominees each. Best Line Reading also went above and beyond, with 15 nominations.

Andie MacDowell, Uma Thurman, Robert Downey Jr, Tommy Lee Jones, & Samuel L. Jackson each receive their 2nd acting nominations (Uma getting her first acting win too). Juliette Lewis receives her 3rd acting nomination. Dianne Wiest receives her 4th acting nomination, as does Judy Davis (her loses for the first time), & Winona Ryder receives her record setting 6th acting nomination, and doing them all in a row too.

Winona Ryder garners another 5 nominations this year, putting her at 25 lifetime nominations - more than any other individual. Second in lifetime nominations is still Woody Allen, who ups his lifetime total from 18 to 20 nods this year.
