The 11 Question Interview: Courtney Hadwin

Image
Courtney Hadwin is a singer / songwriter whose debut album, Little Miss Jagged, is available now. ●●●●● 1. What fictional character do you most associate with, and why do you think that? Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. Her dream of owning a restaurant fuels her work ethic. In a way, I see myself in her when I was younger, the age of 9, I knew what my dream was, I knew what I wanted to be and do when I was older, and I did everything I could to get there. I didn’t go to the school parties or hang out with my friends after school; my main focus was school, then home and practice til sleep time, and all again the next day. I knew if I worked hard enough, I’d get where I needed to be! 2. If someone wrote a book about your life, what do you think the title should be? Still Looking For A Title 3. If you could choose one song that would play every time you walked into a room (excluding your own songs), what song would you choose? Tequila by The Champs   4. If you could travel back i...

Polaroid Retinex: The Dynamic Framing of a Polaroid Pixture

Image
I love imperfections, which is why i love instant photography so much. Sure, i can use my Canon Rebel or even my Samsung Phone to create the sharpest of images - photos that are flawless, even if the didn't start out that way. And that is something i do, but even when i edit those photos, i like to make them not so slick & smooth. But with instant photography, i don't have to do such a thing, as the imperfections are already inherently there for all to see. And that is what i love. I have multiple Polaroids from throughout the years. The Sun 600 from the 70's, the Impulse from the 80's, the Now Gen from, well, from now, and several others. And each one of them gives me great pleasure when that photo wrhhhhs it's way out the front, sticking out it's glourious tongue for all to see. Sometimes there are glitches, especially with the older ones, and those glitches are a thing of instant beauty. But another thong of instant beaty are the different films and frame...

Film Review: Screamboat (Steven LaMorte, 2025)

Image
"A scream is a wish your heart makes" When looked at from a purely WTF angle, this shitcrazed garbage movie (which is a lot like it's Staten Island Ferry setting, filthy, disgusting, & crusty) is weirdly entertaining, and loads better than any of the rabid plethora of public domain horror films bloodying up the cinematic waters as of late. Sure, it's badly acted (comically bad by some), and really makes no narrative sense at times, and for some reason, the size of our intrepid anti-hero villain, the public domain-inized Steamboat Willie, keeps changing from a few inches tall to about a foot tall, but it's still a fun ride - and in something deeper than mere MST3K style. David Howard Thornton, best known for his manic portrayal of Art the Clown in the Terrifier series, seems to take more than just a little glee in playing wild Willie - and i took more than a little glee in watching him take more than a little glee. And that one scene (if you've seen the mov...

I would love to be a confidant and friend to Barack Obama, he has a great sense of humor and I think he is the kindest and smartest man who has ever been our President. Friends should enrich each others lives and I would love conversations with this Gentleman! 3. If you could be any inanimate object, what would it be? The Elizabeth Taylor Diamond Ring (Krupp Diamond) Honey, the ring has STORIES! 4. You are a new edition to the crayola box. What colour would you be, and why? Marvelous Magenta! It's BOLD and BRIGHT with a little bit of blue. 5. If you could sing one song on American Idol, what song would that be? I AM WHAT I AM from LaCage Aux Folles, it's practically auto-biograp...

Bullet Train (David Leitch) - Directed by David Leitch, the man responsible for John Wick, as well as the director of Deadpool 2 and one of the Fast & Furious movies (can anyone tell them apart anyway) this is a non-stop action comedy headlined by a fabulously fun Brad Pitt as a reluctant assassin. 24. Triangle of Sadness (Ruben Östlund) - Winner of the Palme d'Or at last year's Cannes Film Festival, this is a strange little comedy about class warfare amongst marooned yacht passengers and personel that brings on the Luis Buñuel vibe big time. 23. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (Rian Johnson) - Slightly better than the first movie...
