So, as I stated earlier, today is B-Day at the ole A to Z thang, and that means a post about something in the B-range. Well, I had this great idea to write up a post on a certain subject that began with the good ole B. I was going to have a dear old friend of mine join in and do some guest co-posting and all. And then, as I was getting other letters ready for publication (I actually have about a third of the alphabet ready to go and on standby, just waiting for their appropriate days), I kinda forgot all about poor letter B, and the next thing I knew, it was two days before the start of the month, and still no B. Oh no! What to do, what to do!? Yeah, I know, stop your belly-achin'. Actually, I am a pretty fast writer, and could have easily written up a post on the subject of The Beatles, or Batman, or Bruce Banner, or Breaking Bad, or perhaps even the act of blogging itself. That would've been easy peazy, lemon squeezy. I can pretty much write anything right off the ole cuff. But no, not today. Instead, I decided to go with a rambling post which acts as a second introduction, after yesterday's 'Allo 'Allo post. It's just more fun this way. So...welcome to my blog.
As for other B-thangs I could have written about, there is always my favourite old blues singer, Butterhead Jones. Earl "Butterhead" Jones was one of the greatest blues singers of his day, but after a brief seven year career, Butterhead Jones was killed in a bar fight in 1936. He was only 26, though some sources claim he was 30 by then. Not many recordings were made of Butterhead Jones, and the few that still exist are pretty scratchy. Jones was part of the Delta Blues scene, and was a cohort of both David "Honeyboy" Edwards and the King of the Delta Blues, Mr. Robert Johnson. Not many people know about Butterhead Jones these days, but it is well worth tracking down some of his recordings, as scratchy as they may be, and take a listen. I could have also written something up about the 1967 film, Bonnie & Clyde (one of my faves), or maybe Bugs Bunny (a sort of psychoanalysis of cartoon rabbitry), or perhaps on barbershop quartets, or binge drinking, or Busta Rhymes, or bookstores, or this great little Italian restaurant in Philly, called Bomb Bomb, or baby badgers, or even my Business Card Collection. That's right, I collect business cards, what's it to ya!? In last year's A to Z game, I did a post on my 10 Favourite People Named Bobby, but there may be a similarly-themed top ten coming on E-Day.
Anyhoo, to stop the rambling, let's end with B is Beautiful. Welcome to my blog, and all that jazz. Tomorrow will be an honest-to-goodness post. Not just rambling. Until then, that's it gang. See ya 'round the web. Oh, and don't forget to participate in my poll, running all month long. You can find said poll, oh so conveniently, near the top of the sidebar. So get on over there and get your vote on. Anyhoo, here's one of those business cards from my aforementioned collection. A letter B-appropriate one, of course.
