Heavenly Body of the Week: The Stargate from Stanley Kubrick's Brilliant and Beautiful 2001: A Space Odyssey

"My God, it's full of stars." - Dr. David Bowman, from 2001: A Space Odyssey (a quote from the Arthur C. Clarke novel adaptation, not the Stanley Kubrick film, as some might have come to believe over the years)

On the day after my 47th birthday, I figured I would include a heavenly body from my second favourite film of all time (my favourite film, The Red Shoes, takes place on Earth, so no heavenly bodies are involved, unless one were to count Moira Shearer as Miss Victoria Page as a heavenly body...and who wouldn't). I am not sure the Stargate (or whatever that is above) technically counts as a heavenly body, at least not in the typical sense of stars, and planets, and moons, oh my, but it's my birthday, and if I want to include the Stargate from 2001: A Space Odyssey, I damn well will. So there.

Check out the Heavenly Body of the Week Space Database.
That's it gang. See ya 'round the web.
